I guess our 'lawmakers' are doing all for nil, since the voters will trump their bullshit personal agendas
DENVER—Medical marijuana advocates are prepared to go to the ballot if they think lawmakers go too far in limiting access to the drug.
Activists filed a ballot initiative Thursday that would bar lawmakers from limiting the number of patients a dispensary can serve. It would also stop cities and counties from passing an outright ban on dispensaries, something which could be allowed under a new dispensary regulation bill.
Brian Vicente, the executive director of Sensible Colorado, a medical marijuana patients' group, said the proposed bill could force medical marijuana patients to travel to another city or county to get the drug they depend on.
He said he'll continue working with lawmakers to change the bill while he prepares to start collecting signatures for the ballot measure.
"We are holding onto running this if patient needs aren't at the core of this bill," he said.
The measure is a constitutional amendment which would trump any law passed this year.

And IT'S OFFICIALLY GOING TO BE FILED
A medical-marijuana advocacy group has taken the first step toward putting regulations for medical-marijuana dispensaries before state voters.
Sensible Colorado, a medical-marijuana patient-rights group, filed the proposed ballot initiative Thursday. The initiative would create less strict regulations for dispensaries than state lawmakers are considering.
For instance, the ballot initiative would require that medical-marijuana dispensaries and growing operations be licensed and have basic security systems. Cities and counties would not be able to ban dispensaries.
That is in contrast to a bill lawmakers unveiled Wednesday that would require dispensaries to reorganize as nonprofit health centers and grow almost all of what they sell, and would allow cities and counties to severely limit or ban dispensaries.
